The Serpent is a wind instrument descended from the Cornett and related to the Tuba!
Their are several versions of the instrument. The main types are a bassoonesque shape and an S curve shape. Of the S shaped Serpents there are military and church versions. Within the church version there’s the original bass version as well as contrabass (anaconda), tenor (serpent), and soprano (worm). I like those nicknames! The tenor and orginal bass range versions were the most used though. learn more
